Do you use iCloud as an email service and would you like to understand how to open the attachments you received via e-mail? Well, first of all, connect to the home page of the service through the browser you usually use to surf the Internet on your computer, after which you log in to your iCloud account (if necessary).
After login, select the e-mail message with attachments you want to open from the central part of the page (the one where you find the list of incoming mail) or, alternatively, first select a different folder from the menu on the left. You can easily recognize messages with attachments because next to the sender’s name there is a paper clip symbol. Once you have opened the email you are interested in, to view the attachments, click on their name in the upper part of the message, under the object. After doing this, the file will be automatically downloaded to your computer.
How to open PC and Mac email attachments
Now let us see how to open email attachments on PCs and Macs, through the appropriate clients, that is through the programs dedicated to the management of electronic mail, like Outlook and Apple Mail. The operations you need to perform are very simple and, regardless of the software used, they are practically always the same.
To begin with, please open the client and select the message containing the attachment of your interest from the list in the inbox or in a different folder. You can easily recognize emails with attachments as they are marked by a special icon, usually depicting a paper clip.
Once the message is open, double-click on the attachment icon (usually the one with the program logo used on the computer to open that particular file format) and you can immediately view the file with the default software for the opening of the same.
If you want, you can also download the attachment: to do so, just drag its icon to the desktop or click on the File menu or on the appropriate one for managing attachments and select the item for saving the file.
For example, if you are using the Outlook program on Windows or on MacOS, then you can open the email you are interested in and double-click on its icon located below the subject of the message in order to view it without having to download it.
To download it, instead, you need to click on the visible arrow by moving the mouse pointer over the file and select, from the menu that appears, the Save as (to save a single file) or the Save all attachments (to save all email attachments).
