An email is not just a medium of sharing messages, but emails are also being used to send files, images and videos. But, there are certain limitations on the mails beyond which, a user can’t go. I don’t know if you are aware of the fact that there is a certain limit on how much can be attached in a single mail. If you use Gmail, then you can add files up to the maximum limit of 25 MB. If you are using Comcast mail, then you will just be given 10.9 MB for the attachments. So, this is something that you will have to keep in mind. The reason why most people don’t know about this restriction is because they only attach documents in the mails. Not many people attach images and videos in the mail, but that doesn’t mean these two things are not attached.

If you have sent images and videos in an email in the past, then I would like to ask you that, have you ever tried to attach files going beyond the limit? If no, then you must try because then, you will see an error message on your PC screen regarding the same issue. The only way by which you can send the file is by reducing the size of the file. Gmail, the most popular email service provider has provided people with an option to send bigger sized files via Google Drive, but not all email service provider offers such services. There is one more problem with big sized files, i.e., they are hard to upload and download. By hard, I mean the time they take to upload and download. They take a lot of time, so if you have a slow internet connection, then the process of upload and download becomes very frustrating.

One of the easiest ways to send large sized files is, reducing their size. Or, send the files in multiple emails. You can also upload the files to an external storage service, as many email service providers offer such external storage services these days.

Below-mentioned are a few tips that you can consider to send files with large size:

1. Check the file size you want to attach in the mail

Before sending an email, you will have to check the size of the files that you wish to attach in the mail. You have to determine the total size of attached files in order to be sure whether the mail will go through or not.

2. Bring down the size of the files before attaching them

You will have to reduce the size of the images and videos before attaching them in the mail.

If you are planning to send images to your known ones, then you have to reduce the size of the images otherwise, you will find that these images taking lots of disk space. It is better to use a low-res image rather than original image.

3. Make use of an external storage device

Many email service providers offer cloud services. The prime example is Gmail, which has a service named ‘Google Drive’, which can be brought into use when files are heavy. So, check if your email service provider offer any such service or not.
